Museologist and anthropologist Marion Bertin (Université Catholique de Louvain) will give a short presentation of her research at this brown bag meeting at Moesgaard Campus organized by UPAST.

About the presentation:

Over the past few decades, universities and museums in Belgium have been dealing with their colonial legacies, particularly concerning the collections originated from Congo. Human remains, gathered for scientific purposes and/or as war trophies, are central in this process. This presentation will provide some preliminary results of the REMAIN HUMAN Project (WelChange, FNRS, 2024-2027), which aims to study negotiations about human remains held in collections in Belgium. It will analyse the different perspectives and tensions between the protagonists involved, while questioning how past, present and future are intertwined together.

After the presentation, it will be possible to ask questions and engage in a discussion moderated by Thea Bladt (UPAST, Aarhus University)
